Emergency Social Service in Turku and the Turku region

Emergency social services (during office hours, 8:30 AM–4 PM)

Emergency Social Services social workers are responsible for all urgent child welfare needs requiring immediate intervention. The unit also handles urgent placements of children when needed.

The Emergency Social Services receives child-welfare notifications and conducts home visits. It also provides guidance and advice concerning custodial and visiting rights and other matters pertaining to children.

The service is also intended for families with our without children, who are new clients and have an urgent need for social services and income support. (A client who has not received income support for two years is considered a new client.)

Turku Region Emergency Social Services (outside office hours and on weekends)

The Turku Region Emergency Social Services serves the people who are either residing or staying within the participating municipalities, provided they are in need of urgent social services outside regular office hours. Each municipality has notified Emergency Social Services of the services they can provide when the need arises. These services may include child welfare placements of minors, and contact information for other services.

During office hours, each municipality is responsible for the social services within the municipality.

The participating municipalities include:
Turku, Kaarina, Lieto, Paimio, Sauvo, Masku, Naantali, Nousiainen, Raisio, Rusko and Mynämäki. 

The Turku Emergency Social Services has the responsibility to respond to the need for urgent social services outside of office hours and on weekends only. You may contact the Turku Region Emergency Social Services by calling the emergency centre number 112.
