TUAS becomes principal shareholder of Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd

TUAS Ltd has purchased the majority of the shares of Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd from the City of Turku in a transaction which took place on 6 April 2016. With the transaction, TUAS strengthens the technical innovation university of the future as indicated in its strategy.

The task of Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd is the development and maintenance of top competence in the manufacturing technology industry. Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd will continue its operations as a working life oriented learning and research environment of the industry and educational institutes.

The opportunity to control the operations of Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd, provided by the share majority, reinforces the operational preconditions of Turku University of Applied Sciences especially in two of its competence spearheads: the multitechnological marine cluster and digitalisation. With the Kupittaa campus project, Turku University of Applied Sciences will focus its operations in the immediate environment of Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd. In the upcoming large campus, the progressive learning environment and hardware of Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd will play a central role.

As a part of the reorganization of its industrial policy services, the City of Turku has found that the services and development opportunities of Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd will significantly improve under the direction of TUAS. In addition to TUAS, Machine Technology Center Ltd is owned by the City of Turku, the Vocational Adult Education Foundation of Turku, the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries and top enterprises in manufacturing technology industry.
