The project includes a researcher exchange programme between four academic partners (TUAS, Finland, the Netherlands and Belgium) and three companies (TIB MOLBIOL, AIMM and the Turku-based ArcDia International). Each exchange takes place between an academic institution and a business. In addition, the project has funding to hire a senior researcher for two years. Funding has also been granted for laboratory expenses.

The project studies picornaviruses and develops commercial (diagnostic or therapeutic) applications in the field. The methods developed in the project are related to the identification of viral genomes or particles through the methods of molecular biology, using technologies created by the participating companies. Among other fields, the scope of expertise in the project covers molecular biology, including bioinformatics, gene technology, protein and structural chemistry, bioreactor technologies, cell culture and virology.
