A team from Turku University of Applied Sciences represents Finland in the global finals already for the third time. The team that in Finland won the Software Design category participates in the international competition with their project “Pregnancy2Baby”. The application is a new kind of mobile maternity card, designed to replace the current cardboard maternity card.The idea and theme behind Imagine Cup is to "imagine a world where technology solves even the most difficult problems". In the Software Design category the competitors have developed different kinds of applications to make the world a better place. This year the competition finals will be organised on 6–10 July in Sydney, Australia. More than 300 000 students from over 100 different countries have participated in the competition each year. Next week TUAS’s Team Matalapaine will get to represent its innovation in Australia after having won the Finnish Imagine Cup finals, which took place on 25 April in Jyväskylä. The application was developed in cooperation with health care personnelThe Pregnancy2Baby maternity card is meant towork as a tool between expectant parents and hospital staff. The software developed by the team is designed to be used with mobile devices. “When implementing the application we cooperated with health care personnel, in order to find out what kind of problems the software should seek solutions for”, says Jesse Tuominen. TUAS's Team Matalapaine members are students in Business Information Technology Samuli Sulkko and Jesse Tuominen from the Salo campus, student in Business Administration Ville Koskinen, also from the Salo campus, and TUAS Lecturer Tuukka Hämeenoja, who is currently doing postgraduate studies at the University of Turku. TUAS’s students represent Finland already for the third time in a rowA team from TUAS has represented Finland in the global Imagine Cup finals already in the two previous years. In 2010, Signbook (Tomi Härkönen, Petteri Lehtonen, Kimmo Koski and Johannes Maliranta) represented Finland in Poland. The next year, in turn, Team 25k (Johannes Maliranta, Kimmo Koski and Petteri Lehtonen) represented Finland in New York and now it’s time to conquer Sydney.
