Joint application to English-language programmes started

The first joint application period of the spring, to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes conducted in English, started on Wednesday 8 January. The application period ends on 22 January at 15:00.

In the joint application this spring, TUAS offers four degree programmes which lead to an English-language degree: the Bachelors’ degree programmes in International Business Online and Information and Communications Technology and the Master’s degree programmes in Service Design and Creative Design Management. The degree programmes offer altogether 125 study places.

In joint application, you can apply to all Finnish higher education institutions

In principle, application to Finnish higher education institutions takes place through the national joint application system. Applications are submitted electronically in Studyinfo.fi.

In the first joint application this spring, you can apply to the higher education institutions’ foreign-language degree programmes starting in the autumn and to the degree programmes at Uniarts Helsinki. In the joint application in January, TUAS offers degree programmes conducted in English. The second application period of the spring will take place 18 March – 1 April 2020, to degree programmes conducted in Finnish and Swedish.

In each joint application, you can apply for six study options at maximum. In the joint application in January, the study options do not have to be placed in an order of preference. An applicant can be accepted in as many degree programmes as their admission scores allow. However, an accepted applicant can only accept one study place leading to a higher education degree per academic term.

The student selection to the degree programmes conducted in English at TUAS is made based on the school certificate, the SAT test, a preliminary assignment and/or entrance examination, depending on the degree programme and the applicant’s basic education. The results will be released at the end of February at the earliest. The results of all admission selections will be released by 5 June and the study place shall be accepted by 10 July at 15:00. The studies start in autumn 2020.

TUAS offers two degree programmes completed completely online

Of the degree programmes offered in the first joint application in the spring, two can be completed entirely online: Bachelor of Business Administration, International Business Online and Master of Culture and Arts, Creative Design Management.

The International Business Online degree has been offered completely online since 2017. This year the degree programme in Creative Design Management, which is included in TUAS’ Master School, is offered for the first time. The degree programme leading to a Master’s degree in the field of culture is managed by a team of experienced online teachers, because earlier in the field of culture, an online Bachelor of Business Administration degree in media production was offered.

Online studies enable completing the degree anywhere, even from the other side of the world. The studies are also suited for those living in Finland, who do not have the opportunity to participate in tuition organized in Turku in the daytime, i.e. those who study alongside working or those who live far away from Turku.

Even though online studies offer flexible opportunities to participate in the studies, they also require commitment and work similarly to the traditional methods of teaching. Modern online studies are no longer about working in solitude, but alongside independent work, the studies include scheduled, joint meetings and versatile group work.

You can apply to the International Business Online degree programme leading to a Bachelor’s degree directly from upper secondary school, which means after having completed an upper secondary or vocational upper secondary degree. Master School applicants are required to have an applicable higher education degree and two years’ work experience.

The second joint application to higher education institutions takes place 18 March – 1 April 2020

The second application period of the spring will offer degree programmes conducted in Finnish and Swedish. TUAS offers over 60 Bachelor’s or Master’s degree programmes conducted in Finnish. Unlike the joint application in January, in the second joint application the study options shall be placed in an order of preference.

In the second joint application in the spring, the degree programmes in the fields of business administration, engineering and social and health care utilize new admission methods: a nation-wide, electronic UAS entrance exam and admission based on earlier higher education studies. Along with the new admission methods, some of the applicants will be informed of their study places earlier, already in May. The results of all selections are released at the latest on 8 July. The studies applied for in the second joint application in the spring also start in autumn 2020.
