TSUE-Turku UAS Double Degree: Bachelor of Engineering in ICT

 

Bachelor of Engineering in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), specialization in Software Engineering and Entrepreneurship.

The Double Degree studies take place in Uzbekistan and Finland. The first year is accomplished in Uzbekistan in Tashkent State University Of Economics (TSUE) and the following three years in Finland at Turku University of Applied Sciences’ Salo IoT campus.

At Turku UAS, all teaching is based on Innovation Pedagogy. This is a learning and teaching method developed at Turku UAS to answer the needs of working life. Students are encouraged to pursue cross-field studies and acquire entrepreneurial mindset.

 

Objectives

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) deals with technologies, methods and tools such as software applications, data networks and cybersecurity, games and hi-tech electronic devices and systems. This programme offers you versatile opportunities as a future ICT professional. 

An ICT engineering graduate has wide and practically oriented fundamental knowledge and skills. After graduation, you can follow and contribute to the development of your field. Your studies will strengthen your capabilities to promote life-long learning, your language and communication skills, and prepare you for working in an international environment. Typical positions of ICT engineering graduates include e.g. IT Specialist, Project Manager, Software Designer, Software Developer, System Administrator, UX Designer and Web developer. Many of graduates establish their own company.

Content and structure of the program

The curriculum consists of basic and professional studies as well as practical training and a Bachelor’s thesis project. Basic studies contain basics of ICT, language and communication courses in English, Finnish and Russian, and coaching in study skills.

The studies typically contain several real-life research and development projects that are implemented together with companies. Studying with us, you will participate in a lot of teamwork, laboratory work and project work. We value problem-based learning and incorporate our students in hands-on projects from the beginning. The learning process is supported by lectures, laboratory exercises, virtual courses, seminar presentations, and individual tutoring.

At Tashkent State University of Economics 

1. year studies 

  • Working Life Skills for Engineers 1-2 (30 ECTS)
  • Engineering Tools 1-2 (30 ECTS)

At Turku University of Applied Sciences

2. year studies

  • Engineering Tools 3 (15 ECTS)
  • Introduction to Software Engineering (15 ECTS)
  • Software Development (15 ECTS)
  • Optional studies Module (15 ECTS)

3. year studies

  • Full Stack Development (15 ECTS)
  • Project Skills and Entrepreneurship (15 ECTS)
  • Software Business (15 ECTS)
  • Optional studies Module (15 ECTS)

4. year studies

  • Software Engineering Practices (15 ECTS)
  • Bachelor thesis (15 ECTS)

Practical training (30 ECTS)
Complementary studies (30 ECTS) i.e., Technical Sales Management, Digital Marketing, Digital Business.

The extent of the Bachelor of Engineering degree programme in ICT is 240 ECTS credits and the planned duration of the studies is four years.

Tuition fee and scholarship programme

The tuition fee is 11 500 euros per academic year for non-EU/EEA students who start their studies in degree programmes offered in English.

Students can apply for a scholarship after the 1. academic year.
Turku UAS grants scholarships based on Finnish language skills. The scholarship is 4000 euros, and the student can receive one scholarship per academic year by completing a Finnish language level test.

Eligibility and selection criteria

The applicant is eligible to apply if he/she has completed a qualification outside Finland that provides eligibility for higher education studies in the awarding country or with a non-Finnish higher education degree.

Students are selected first to Tashkent State University of Economics and during first year of the studies, students apply for Double Degree Programme in Turku University of Applied Sciences. The selection method is an SAT test or an interview.

Co-operation with the industry and postgraduate study opportunities

The programme has strong connections to the ICT industry and other degree programmes locally, nationally and internationally. This provides unique opportunities for students to network and interact with industry contacts during their studies in the Salo IoT campus. We implement research and development projects together with numerous local and international partners. You can benefit from this network in many ways during the studies.

Also, our students participate actively in the events and competitions organized in the field. In our various learning environments, you can learn working life skills by working in practical projects. As a Bachelor of Engineering, you may apply to a wide selection of Master’s programmes in Finland or abroad.
