International Semesters

All the TUAS faculties offer ready-made study packages, International Semesters, taught completely in English. The International Semester consists of different, thematically focused courses worth 30 ECTS in minimum. The studies last approximately one semester.

Note! You can only take courses from the faculty of which your home university is a partner. If you don't know which faculty is your home university's partner, please contact the international office at your home university or TUAS International Office exchange.students(at)turkuamk.fi.

ARTS ACADEMY

International Semester at Arts Academy

The Arts Academy provides a wide range of Bachelor of Arts Programme (240 ECTS) in the field of arts and media. A central and significant feature is the multi-disciplinary structure, which allows interaction between subjects and presents creative potential for the cross-fertilisation of ideas between programmes. Concentration on project-based studies allows us to have international students in most of the workshops, since a teacher can give guidance and teaching in both languages simultaneously (English and Finnish). Most of the courses can be arranged in a flexible way in English. In addition to courses provided by Arts Academy students are expected to take the following general courses:
•    Finnish for Foreigners ( 3 ECTS)
•    GetFinternational (3 ECTS)
 
During an exchange period of 3 months, a student may complete min. 20 ECTS. During an exchange period of a whole semester, a student may complete min. 30 ECTS.

Film and Media: Advertising and Media Management, Animation and Film Studies, Journalism

An international exchange student will have an individual study plan based on the courses offered for exchange students. The individual study plan will be agreed with the teacher tutor of the study field. Some courses are arranged in online studies. International Semester takes place during Spring semester. Each student is requested to have individual project (min. 5 ECTS) during the exchange period. A student will be provided guidance for the execution of the project by the teacher tutor and student tutors

Fine Arts: Fine Arts, Photography

An international exchange student will have an individual study plan based on discussions with the teacher tutor of the study field. Each student is requested to have individual project (min. 5 ECTS) during the exchange period. A student will be provided guidance for the execution of the project by the teacher tutor and student tutors.

Music and Performing Arts: Music Pedagogue, Circus, Theatre and Puppetry, Dance Teacher

An international exchange student will have an individual study plan based on discussions with the teacher tutor of the study field. Each student is requested to have individual project (min. 5 ECTS) during the exchange period. A student will be provided guidance for the execution of the project by the teacher tutor and student tutors.

FACULTY OF BUSINESS, ICT AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING

Our faculty educates Bachelors and Masters in various fields on Business and Engineering in two cities: Turku and Salo. In addition to full-time studies, the faculty provides also part-time studies and continuing education, offering an opportunity to maintain and develop professional skills.

Our way of learning

Our pedagogical ideology emphasizes applying, producing and using information for creating new knowledge and innovations. Our activities are closely linked with working life and industry sector. This environment allows our students to learn, develop and carry out research in different settings. We want our students to take an active role in their learning process, which we refer as innovation pedagogy.

Important to bear in mind:

  • These are preliminary course lists, meaning that some changes might occur
  • You can choose only courses from one spesific module at a time
  • NB! You cannot select course from several modules
  • When completing the learning agreement, the student applicant ranks in decreasing order of interest, two modules for the semester he/she would wish to enroll in. The one module in which the student eventually participates during the exchange period will be validated and informed upon before her/his arrival at TUAS.

Campus: Lemminkäisenkatu campus, Turku

Lemminkäisenkatu campus is closely located to Kupittaa Park, at 10 minutes from the market square. Internationalization is an essential part of our studies, and students from many nationalities are part of our routine. Exchange students taking their semesters in our Business and Chemical Engineering enjoy high quality services within a cozy atmosphere.

Campus: Joukahaisenkatu campus, Turku

Joukahaisenkatu-campus also called ICT City is located next to the Kupittaa Railway Station and in the very core of Turku Science Park. ICT City is a modern community of several actors. It is located and surrounded by other High Tech -technology industry as private sector corporations and companies.  

ICT is an abbreviation of the words Information and Communication Technology. The education arranged in ICT City focuses directly or indirectly to this wide and challenging area. We focus on providing high quality, demanding and activating education where students have a central role.

Health and Well-being is one of the four faculties at Turku University of Applied Sciences. The multidisciplinary faculty educates Bachelors and Masters in various fields of Health and Social Care in two cities – Turku and Salo.

FACULTY OF TECHNOLOGY, ENVIRONMENT AND BUSINESS (INCLUDING DESIGN)

Our faculty educates Bachelor and Master –level students in various fields of engineering, business and design. Also environmental issues are addressed in our degree programs.
At our faculty, the degree programs, research groups and excellence centers facilitate new solutions, products and services in various fields. In addition to professional knowledge and skills, we provide students with collaboration, communication and business skills, with focus on creativity and multidisciplinary approach. We develop actively our teaching methods in response to the needs and requirements of businesses and other organizations. 

Our teaching is based on innovation pedagogy, an approach focusing on multidisciplinary, experimental and practical learning. We are pleased to offer our exchange students an opportunity to study together with the local students in a truly international atmosphere, hosting annually more than hundred exchange students from all over the world.

TUAS offers two general courses to exchange students:

  • Get Finternational, 3 ECTS, course code 1000393
    This course aims to gain a wider perspective into the Finnish society, taking part in it more actively, learning how to analyse the adaptation to a foreign culture, learning how to interact with the representatives of different cultures.
    Limited amout of places!
  • Finnish for Exchange students, 3 ECTS, course code 1000474
    Beginners course for Finnish language. Available for all exchange students. Remember that you can take the course only once during your exchange (NB! academic year exchange students)

International Business Management 

NOTE:

If you are interested in International Business Master’s studies, please contact Mr Keijo Varis to receive course details. These courses are targeted to adult  students and are based on few contact teaching (two days/month) with higher level of independent work. Our Master’s studies are targeted to students who are working at the same time, and have previous working experience (minimum of 3 years).

The bachelor’s degrees in engineering (different fields) take 4 years to complete (240 ECTS). For this reason some of the engineering courses and projects might suit also Master’s level students.
