INTOKE – Developing the Competence and Know-How of Building Information Modeling in Infrastructure

The construction industry is facing a large and substantial change when moving from paper-based drawings to computer-based planning by using information modelling. The main goal of this project is to create regional knowledge networks for infrastructural construction technology, and thus to create a sustainable operational model utilizing information model based operations in Southwest Finland.

The project aims at improving information modelling know-how and concretizing the benefits of this know-how for the whole life cycle of infrastructural construction. It also aims at developing new cooperation models between the organizations and creating competitive advantage for them. Global competition requires constant updating of expertise and readiness for learning new skills, and this project responds to this need.

The project activities are categorized into three main groups:
• Training and coaching of the participants
• Coordination of the pilot projects
• Development tasks

INTOKE project produces sustainable knowledge of information modelling for planning and construction in Southwest Finland. Small and medium-sized organizations' influence to employment will get weaker without strong efforts in the midst of changes. The ultimate goal of this project is to guarantee that SMEs in this field can function and prosper also in the future.
