Accommodation
Finding a place to stay in Turku requires active effort from you. Turku University Applied Sciences (Turku UAS) cannot guarantee or arrange housing for exchange students; you have to apply for it yourself.
We recommend that you start applying for accommodation as soon as you have received your acceptance to study / do practical training at Turku UAS.
In general, the quality of student housing in Finland is good. The average housing costs in Turku range from 300€ to 600€, and in Salo from 120€ to 350€.
Turku UAS recommends very strongly that you to apply for an accommodation from the providers listed here below. All the listed options are commercial or private organisations.
If you are searching for an accommodation from the private markets (e.g. through the Facebook groups below), we would like to remind you to be very careful. We also recommend that you don't make any agreements or arrangements you are not comfortable with or have doubts about. Remember to always ask for photos of the apartment / room and the ground plan beforehand. Do not pay the deposit rent, unless you are certain that the apartment exists.
Whether you find a place to stay from the housing options listed here or from private markets, please make sure you have a proper rental agreement in writing.
Housing in Turku
Student housing provider
The Student Village Foundation of Turku (TYS)
The Student Village Foundation of Turku (TYS) builds, renovates, rents and maintains student housing for students in post-secondary learning institutions and youth housing for working youths. You can apply for TYS housing at www.tys.fi/en/exchange-students
Note! If you receive an email from TYS saying that you are in the housing queue or you don't receive a housing offer from TYS (and TYS informs on the exchange student application page that all the apartments are full), then please start searching for the accommodation from other housing providers immediately.
Apartment from general rental market
Finding short-term housing in Turku can be challenging in August and September. Moreover, the private landlords usually do not rent furnished apartments. Normally the rental agreements are done for a fixed period of a year and earlier resignation requires a penalty fee to be paid by the tenant.
Forenom
Forenom is a private choice for renting fully furnished apartments. The rent includes water, electricity and internet.
