How to apply

Below, you’ll find information about the application process for exchange studies / practical training at Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUAS).

Before applying you should contact the international office at your home institution to make sure that you are eligible for exchange studies at TUAS.

Due to the corona virus situation, the application deadline for incoming exchange students has been postponed until May 1st, 2020. 

Please note:
We have been informed by the Finnish Immigration Service that due to the corona virus situation, there will be delays in the visa and residence application processes in the spring and summer 2020. This is why we recommend that exchange students and trainees who need a visa or residence permit for their stay in Finland would apply to Turku University of Applied Sciences for the spring semester 2021. 

Step 1 – Registration to online application system

  • Open the application form and choose your exchange programme:
    • Erasmus student exchange = Students from Erasmus partner institutions, length of the stay 3 months or more
    • Erasmus practical training = Students from Erasmus partner institutions who will do their practical training at TUAS, length of the stay 2 months or more
    • Other student exchange = Students from all other partner institutions, length of the stay 3 months or more
    • Other practical training = Students from all other partner institutions who will do their practical training at TUAS, llength of the stay 3 months or more
    • Nordplus student exchange = Students from Nordplus partner institutions
    • Short-term exchange = Students whose exchange studies or practical training at TUAS is less than 3 months
  • Fill in your personal details, contact person in case of emergencies and information about your home institution and current studies.
  • Fill in your language skills and your estimated date of arrival.
  • Area of study / Degree Programme: Choose the degree programme which you will be studying at TUAS.
  • Studies / Practical training begins and ends at TUAS
    • Check the semester dates from the Before arrival -page or from the faculty international relations staff at TUAS.

Within a few minutes you will receive a confirmation email from TUAS with a link to proceed with your online application.

Step 2 – Filling in your personal information

  • Click the link in the confirmation email to proceed to your online application form. 
  • After logging in to the system, click "Complete personal data" and fill in your contact information.
  • Click "Create".

Step 3 – Uploading application documents

Upload your passport photo and the application documents. Required application documents:

  • Motivation letter in English (state your interest why you want to study in TUAS and in Finland, what are your interests professionally and personally, max. 1 page)
  • Transcript of records in English (a list of the courses and grades which you have done so far in your studies, usually available from your student office, in English)
  • Learning Agreement form
  • Curriculum Vitae in English (you can use, for example this form:  
  • Portfolio (only design students) or send a link to your online portfolio by email to (at)

Faculty international relations staff at TUAS will inform you if any additional documents are needed.

Step 4 – Sending application documents to TUAS

All the students are required to send the Learning Agreement by post to TUAS

  • Please do not send other application documents by mail (transcript of records, motivation letter or CV), make sure that they are uploaded in the Mobility Online system
  • Send the documents to the faculty where you will be studying at TUAS

The following students need to send also the below mentioned documents by e-mail to TUAS:

  • Arts Academy students, please send your portfolio / a link to an online portfolio by email to jussi-pekka.piiparinen (at) (do not upload it to Mobility Online)
  • Design students, please send your portfolio (or a link to an online portfolio) by email to (at) or upload it to Mobility-Online along with your other application documents.

Step 5 – Acceptance to TUAS

  • You will receive the information concerning your acceptance to TUAS by email.
  • We will send you also information about studies at TUAS, living in Finland and other important information to go through Before arrival -page
  • Once you have received the acceptance from TUAS, you can apply for the accommodation .

Step 6 – Booking accommodation

After receiving the acceptance from TUAS, you can reserve your accommodation.
