Virtual Children's Hospital for Learning Pediatric Nursing
Virtual Children's Hospital for Learning Pediatric Nursing project develops innovative learning and teaching practices by utilising virtual reality and virtual simulation as part of teaching. Virtual Children's Hospital for Learning Pediatric Nursing project aims to strengthen the competence of nursing students by increasing the knowledge and developing practical skills needed in the nursing care of children. The result of the project will be a Virtual Children's Hospital, as an interactive virtual reality learning environment (VRLE). In a Virtual Children's Hospital, specifically aimed at nursing students, several students and teachers can simultaneously participate in working together or separately, regardless of their location.
Virtual Children's Hospital for Learning Pediatric Nursing project enables the development of digital skills and capabilities through immersive and innovative learning methods. Using the environment with VR headsets is not required but enables an optimal user experience. In the Virtual Children's Hospital, animated patients can respond to the given treatment with both speech and movements, which is not possible with manikins and simulators. In addition, participants act as avatars, which makes it easier to blend into the virtual environment. Virtual Children's Hospital for Learning Pediatric Nursing project also enhances international interaction and communication skills by offering teachers and students of partner universities cooperation opportunities, such as joint seminars, in a virtual environment.
