Turku UAS’ alumni can attend Open Studies free of charge

Turku University of Applied Sciences wants to support the continuous learning of their alumni by opening for them the right to complete Open Studies free of charge from 1 January 2021.

The right to study applies the course supply of Open Studies at Turku University of Applied Sciences, individual courses and diplomas of higher education, excluding the path studies. The right to study is valid for four semesters and the semester, during which the student graduates. Thus, the right to study applies alumni who have graduated from Turku UAS on 1 January 2019 or after.

The alumni are one of the most important interest groups for Turku UAS. Getting the alumni committed to Turku UAS’ operations is vital especially for the development of education and working life cooperation. The alumni represent their degree programme and university of applied sciences throughout the world. Through the alumni, different companies and organizations will become more familiar with UAS education.

Opening the two-year right to study free of charge for the alumni also renders the best possible experts  for the companies in the region. Constant self-development is a prerequisite of making it in working life.

“For our part, we want to be involved in supporting the development of Southwest Finland by training the best experts for the region”, says Alumni Coordinator Elina Karaus from Turku University of Applied Sciences.

Every year, over two thousand experts graduate from Turku University of Applied Sciences. Almost two thirds of them continue to work in the region after five years from their graduation.

Open Studies can be completed by anyone regardless of their age and prior education. Some of the Open Studies students complement their competence by studying individual courses alongside working. Some study with a larger entity in mind and with the aim of completing a UAS Master’s degree, for example.
