International week’s webinar brings together experts and students in the field of health and well-being

Turku UAS International week 2022 is organized from the 26th to the 28th of April by the Faculty of Health and Well-being. The event is organized entirely as a webinar.

The theme for the week is “Cornerstones for the Future: Research, Development, Innovation and Education in Health and Well-being”. It brings together both teachers and research, development and innovation (RDI) staff, giving an opportunity to share one’s expertise, to plan and create new initiatives or to give a lecture to students and colleagues.

“We have participants from 14 countries, including guest speakers from our partner universities in eight countries, and some of our own experts are speaking, too. We will hear lectures as well as short presentations of research projects. On Thursday afternoon, our graduating Master School students will give their Master thesis poster presentations”, says International Relations Coordinator Anu Raunio.

The lectures give an insight e.g., to utilizing global connections for medtech innovations (Oshin Behl from the University of Pardubice, Czech Republic) and telecounseling for clients with COVID-19 in home isolation from the mental health nursing practice point of view (Vatcharin Wuthironarith from Rangsit University, Thailand). In the session of research projects in health and well-being, seven projects will be presented, among others Building a centre of expertise for the physical activity of children and youth (Ursula Hyrkkänen from Turku UAS).

Thursday’s Master School session begins with two keynote speakers: Evanthia Sakellari from the University of West Attica and Vilnius University and Justyna Siemionov from the University of Gdansk. After that, 58 graduating Master School students will present their Master’s theses in six parallel poster sessions.

Hopefully, we at Turku UAS will be able to arrange the International Week 2023 on campus again!

Turku UAS’ faculty of Health and Well-being educates future professionals to work in the field of health care and social services. The starting point for the teaching activities at Turku UAS is innovation pedagogy, a learning approach emphasizing multidisciplinary, experimental and practice-oriented learning. We are one of the actors of Health Campus Turku, a significant multidisciplinary education cluster formed by four higher education institutions and a university hospital.
