Sustainability in Project Management weekend at TUAS!

TUAS fellow Prof. Gilbert Silvius and 13 of his project management students from Hogeschool Utrecht (HU) visited TUAS the past weekend.

TUAS fellow Prof. Gilbert Silvius and 13 of his project management students from Hogeschool Utrecht (HU) visited TUAS the past weekend.

On Friday and Saturday, the students from Utrecht studied together with our 30 PM Master’s Degree students intensively the topics of sustainability in Project Management and international teamwork and virtual collaboration.

The Finnish–Dutch student groups did team work during the days and continued in Kavalto smoke sauna on Friday evening.

The group work in Sustainability in PM assigned during the days will be reviewed in another student meeting in Utrecht at the end of March when part of the Finnish PM student group will travel to Utrecht, and the rest participate virtually.

Teppo Neuvonen is the responsible teacher of the arrangements of the weekend and states happily: “We are lucky that we can jointly arrange these PM courses for our students with leading specialists. We started this joint course arrangement last year with Utrecht, and now we have also Prof. Garry Blair from Manchester Metropolitan University lecturing for us on Saturday. Our goal is to develop an internationally recognized PM education programme within the CARPE network.”

“Gilbert is a leading specialist in sustainability in PM. He has written articles and books about it. On Wednesday afternoon he gave a guest lecture on the matter at Projektiyhdistys Special Interest Group 16 (Cleantech ja kestävä kehitys projekteissa) meeting in Helsinki.  He also initiated the first ever PM Master’s degree programme in Holland as we did in Finland” says Osmo Eerola, the Degree Programme Leader behind the idea of a joint course.

“Our PM Master’s students highlighted this event last year as the best in their studies, and I am happy that we can continue and make this a permanent way to work together with TUAS students. To experience the Finnish smoke sauna possibly with ice swimming this evening is something we will remember…”, believes Prof. Silvius.
