A solution is sought for the continuation of subsidised student meals in Salo

The restaurant service provider of Salo IoT Campus will change at the beginning of March. As a result of the change, subsidised student meals threaten to discontinue.

"After TUAS was informed of the change, efforts have been made to find an operating model for arranging subsidised student meals on the Salo campus in close cooperation with the Salo IoT Campus and the City of Salo. We believe that a solution will be found well in advance of the change, says Vesa Taatila, Rector and CEO of Turku University of Applied Sciences.

The student union of Turku University of Applied Sciences (TUO) has also expressed strong concern about the availability of student catering services. They have been active in this matter and have tried to help find a solution.

In the next few years, Turku UAS aims to steadily increase the number of students on the Salo campus, as both future additional student places in the field of social services and health care and the growth of international students will focus on Salo.

Salo's location between Turku and Helsinki makes it an attractive study destination for applicants from both regions.  International students have been satisfied with the peaceful and flexible learning environment on the Salo campus.

At the beginning of December, Turku University of Applied Sciences had 747 students registered on the Salo campus. Some of these students complete blended studies and therefore do not visit campus on a daily basis.

Salo IoT Campus and Restaurant Factory have signed an agreement on restaurant and café services. In connection with the renovation, the restaurant's premises will also be completely renovated. As a result of the renovation, restaurant services will be centralised in the Kuutio building, on the site of the current café.
