FAIA – Functioning and Activity from Infancy to Adolescence research group

The competence areas of the research group include studying, evaluating and developing interventions for the mobility and functional capacity of children and youths in the sectors of individuals and the environment. 

RDI activities are done in multidisciplinary cooperation with the University of Turku, Paavo Nurmi Centre and the Hospital District of Southwest Finland. 

The research group’s focus areas include:

  • promoting the active activity and healthy sports and exercise of children and youths 
  • understanding sensory processing as the foundation of children’s development and functional capacity 
  • the interaction between human action and the environment from the perspectives of accessibility and usability.
