Thank you for an inspiring year 2022!

I would like to express my warmest thanks to our cooperation partners for an inspiring work year. It has been a great pleasure to be able to do “more normal” work after the worst challenges caused by the pandemic have calmed down, even if the global situation is not very calm in other respects.

Luckily, in our region, we have been able to enjoy a relatively normal situation. We wish for the best and prepare for the worst; that is how our country has also previously managed to maintain course.

The year at Turku University of Applied Sciences has witnessed many joys, of which returning to more community-oriented but still flexible ways of working has perhaps been the most pleasant. In addition, we have e.g. built the new strategy, managed to solve the practical training fee issue, which we have worked on with our partners in social services and health care for years, increased our influential RDI work for building the future of our region and managed to offer study opportunities to more future experts than before, both from Finland and abroad.

The sole purpose of Turku University of Applied Sciences is to support the region and the organizations operating in it. In our new strategy, we have defined delivering impact for working life as our objective. In the future, we will work even harder to boost the development of green economy, a good life and hybrid work, both in Southwest Finland and, more broadly, in the Baltic Sea region.

Collaboration and partnership will be at the core of all our operations. They yield added value for our learning, research and development. We will support the working life in Southwest Finland together with the region’s other educational institutions. We are known among our partners in Finland and abroad for our result-oriented expertise. We want to be worth the trust.

Once again, predicting the future is difficult, but despite the global problems, I have great faith in the result-oriented work of the people and organizations in Southwest Finland. Together and by supporting each other we can build this decade to be as good as possible. Participating in that work in force will be a joy.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone for the year 2022. Have a very peaceful holiday season and an even better 2023.

Christmas donation to the Baltic Sea

We will not be sending printed holiday cards this year, either. Instead, we donated to the John Nurminen Foundation for the Baltic Sea.

The Baltic Sea is sick, eutrophic and polluted, but it can still be saved. We take good care of the Baltic Sea to keep it healthy and diverse for the generations to come.
