Dignified Old Age
The aim of the Dignified old age research group is to develop gerontological nursing and social work. Strengthening the competence of personnel is also at the core of the research group's interests.
As the population ages, the promotion of the health and functioning of older people has become an increasingly pressing national and international issue. There is a need for comprehensive information on the daily lives of older people, their resources, the factors that can be used to maintain and promote the health and functional capacity of older people, and to predict the development of their health, functional capacity and service needs.
The research group, launched in 2022, will be an active partner in the development of a care unit on the Salo IoT Campus with the City of Salo. The group's partner is also the University of Oulu's GeroNursingCentre (GNC), a research and competence center for nursing that promotes the rehabilitation of the elderly.
The members of the research group act as teachers in the Master's degree programme in Gerontological Expertise at Turku UAS.
